In this webinar, April Spratley, Latin teacher and PhD candidate specializing in ancient musical instruments, and Callum Armstrong, professional piper, and maker of replica ancient instruments, present on ancient music and musicians! In ancient Greece and Rome, there were a plethora of musical instruments and people who played them: musicians were upper class and lower class, slave and free, male and female, young and old. In this talk, attendees will learn about some of the main musical instruments in the Greek and Roman world. They will also learn about reconstructions of several instruments, how modern researchers make reeds for them, hear a couple of short pieces of music played with them, and finally, learn about some musicians of the ancient world.
